Many of man’s most ambitious adventures were motivated by the dream of great rewards.  During the fifteenth century’s “Age of Discovery,” the search for new trade routes led explorers like Zheng He, Christopher Columbus, and Ferdinand Magellan to venture out and discover new lands.  Although the discoveries were unexpected, these journeys were calculated investments.
